Attention to fair trade, fair wage and flexible workplace practices are paramount to City Box’s business philosophy.
City Box Durham strives to purchase at least 75% of its products from Black-, LGTBQIA-, Latino-, and women-owned businesses.
Our Story
After more than 20 years of living in the Bull City, City Box Durham owner Jeannine Sato wanted to share its love, grit and entrepreneurial spirit with friends and colleagues. But gifting Durham’s favorites meant running all over town and assembling items at home. She dreamed of a service that would introduce and support local businesses while sharing her favorite products with others. City Box Durham was launched in 2022 with the support of her husband, Mas and her kids Hana and Kenji and quite a few furry friends.
